This was originally posted as a post rather than a page. Since it was doomed to eventually scroll away, I have made this a page as well.
I am attempting to synthesize what I have written in two previous posts (these open in a new tab or window for your convenience); The Coming Global Collapse and The Circle of the Law is Broken.
Without getting out of my depth in the subject of the history of human civilization I would like to present an argument here about the effects of what is called globalization. In general it can be said that the history of Western Civilization has followed a general westward movement, starting in the middle east and following the coasts upward and westward, meandering here and there, discovering a “New World” and making footholds in it in various places and times, and in often debatable detail. For a timeline of civilization in general you can click here. Power and technological development generally followed this route as well, though there were meanderings and stalling points here and there. I am aware of several caveats in what I have said above, firstly that I am only chronicling Western Civilization and that there was an already advanced civilization in the American continent when the first Europeans arrived. My reason in doing so is to chart the movement of the most scientific-technologically advanced societies for with this movement was also the movement of power as politics and “wealth” as we know it today.
After gestating for many years it jumped once more across the pacific and for a while Japan became the most technologically advanced society on the planet. Soon after the phenomena of “globalization” occurred, probably caused from the revolution in telecommunication and the internet and marks a major paradigm shift for the planet. Next China is included in this movement and becomes one of the main players is this drama.
This is where the point of this whole prelude gets interesting and where I am attempting to synthesize the two earlier posts above. I am seeing something new and unprecedented occurring in this phenomena of globalization for it represents what I am calling the Circling of the Square. This phrase is to be taken as the “square” as representing the Pyramid Structure (because most human made archeological pyramids are five sided with four outer triangular sides and a base–and this base is square) and the Circling as representing human civilization finally meeting with it’s own tail (so to speak) in the globalization of the human nations world view.
What happens at this time in history can be understood as a major turning point; perhaps, more than that, it may be seen as a evolutionary quantum jump and certain historical forces and paradigms collide. For as detailed in the above “The Circle of the Law is Broken”, the pyramid is a hierarchic structure with a small elite at the top ruling over those below. The Circling of the Square, then, represents the evolutionary dialectic of rule by all meeting the rule of the few and powerful. One sees this daily in the news, where every “westernized” country seems to be suffering the same economic and political dilemmas. While westernized (and this begins to include China and is scratching at the doors of the middle-east) countries in Europe and here in the America’s know unprecedented wealth, the westernized nation-states all seem to lack the will to support the ordinary person. Here in the United States we are hearing of the “99%” and in Europe are massive resistance movements to what are being called “austerity measures.” To quote Stephane Hessel’s “Time for Outrage”, “We are told, shamelessly, that the state cannot bear the cost of certain civil measures anymore. But how can we lack the funds to maintain these programs when our nations enjoy greater wealth than at any time since the Liberation, when Europe lay in ruins?….”
The Squaring Pyramid structure meets the Circling of globalization and the “Circle of the Law’s” fundamental democratic principals. One needs to add to this. The Omega Point is a term coined by the French Jesuit Pierre Teilhard de Chardin (1881–1955) to describe a maximum level of complexity and consciousness towards which he believed the universe was evolving. The Mayan Calendar Long Count seems to imply a “changing of the ages.” And there is also the trivialized Age of Aquarius. All these things point to a major evolutionary jump which imply equally major evolutionary challenges. One can hypothesize that the Circling of the Square in globalization may be more than a simple circle but may mark a point at which this circling begins to spiral inward in much the same way as a orbiting body begins to spiral inward when it loses orbital velocity.
What I am seeing (to anyone who has managed to hang on to this post this long) is that the structures of laissez-faire capitalism and the hierarchical structures of society have reached the ending of their usefulness in an evolutionary sense. Major reorganization of the human nations social structures are an evolutionary inevitability. The marriage currently enjoyed by the current sociopolitical structures with fossil fuels is a deadly marriage, while The Sacred Earth receives an incredible supply of solar energy. The Star-Father Sun, an average star, is a fusion reactor that has been burning over 4 billion years. It provides enough energy in one minute to supply the world’s energy needs for one year. In one day, it provides more energy than our current population would consume in 27 years. In fact, the amount of solar radiation striking the earth over a three-day period is equivalent to the energy stored in all fossil energy sources. The pyramid structure of the human nation’s social systems will fail to work in the Circling of the Square that globalization brings.
So prepare yourself for change, for it is here. It will end in good but the degree of suffering we will know depends on our use of our gifts of intelligence (the gift of the sacred fire to the people) and our willingness to embrace the change of Aeons.
