All life and being upon this Mother Earth is inextricably woven together. Brought about through ancient forces and the process of time, the Star Father Sun pouring out his energy to make Mother Earth fecund with life. This mysterious power and sacred gift called Life.
Woven together all life upon this Mother Earth is intertwined and interdependent. What affects any part of Life on Mother Earth effects every other part. Through aeons of time life has grown and changed and evolved eventually evolving the Human Being. The progression of Life has been one of evolving complexity. In Human Beings this complexity has reached a level where complex cognitive skills and potentialities have evolved to very great degree. So much so that the nation of Human Beings have come to center their sense of self, their sense of identity, in this cognitive world–a world of belief, ideation, imagination and cognitive thought. This centering of identity has tended to sever the sensation available to more primal perceptual awareness of the innate interconnectedness of their lives with the wholeness of Life on Mother Earth. While human complexity has brought truly amazing gifts (it is the “stealing the fire from heaven”) such as art, science, medicine–in fact all that we call civilization; it also carries with it a disastrous consequences for it entails a burying of the more primal awareness which unites us with our connection to the wholeness of Sacred Life. The Human Nation largely believes and/or acts in ways that consider Sacred Mother Earth as existing only for their own purposes. The loss of primal awareness of interconnection with All Life on Sacred Mother Earth makes the Human Nation act in disregard of the effects it manifests as it pursues its particularly human goals.
This alienation is more than a simple disregard. It is an actual loss of self, for we become as “Motherless Children.” And there is no end to the the repercussions as we continue on this false path of self-hood. For the Sacred Mother Earth is hurting; is growing sick and responding to the Human Nation’s ignorant actions with great changes that threaten not only the Human Nation but all the Nations of Life. A great price will be payed, that is coming already. But continuance upon the path the Human Nation now pursues threatens not only it’s own survival as a species (and at minimum as “civilization”) but the survival of all the other Earth Nations as well. One could detail explicit examples, but that will become well known and deeply felt. What is more important is that we regain not only the understanding of our interrelationships but the actual perceptual awareness of being part of a Whole that is Greater than Ourselves. This awareness is not alien to us, it is buried deeply under the false sense of self-identity that we nearly universally harbor.
To be Whole is to be Holy. When one recognizes that they ARE the air and winds, the Sun and Stars, the Flying Creatures, the soil and rock, the Great Tree Nations and all the other myriad Nations that make up the Wholeness of the Web of Life of Sacred Mother Earth then we will learn that to Respect our own self is to Respect the wholeness of Sacred Mother Earth–Sacred Mother Life. For all these are Nations too, and the Human Nation is only one of many Nations of Being that are interwoven and sharing this Sacred Mother Earth, dependent upon one another. Then, and only then, will we begin to integrate our own sense of identity with the Sacred Mother Earth which bore us all, sustains us all, holds us all and continues us all. For all Life is of one Life and is interdependent upon this oneness.
